The propagation of ion-acoustic waves in high frequency fields is experimentally studied. The resulting phase-velocity decrease and enhanced damping are observed for radio-frequency field amplitudes up to αe≃0.5, where αe=eE/(meωovc) is the normalized amplitude. Good agreement with the theory is found.
