Paraffins such as butane, pentane, and hexane were isomerized, at temperatures as low as 0 °C, over Al2O3 treated with CF3Cl. The isomerizations were promoted by strong acid sites having Ho values of −13.75≥HO>−14.52, which were formed on the treated surface.
