Thymosin β4, an acetylated tritetracontapeptide, was synthesized by an automated solid phase procedure. The synthetic material was shown to be identical to the natural product by physicochemical analyses and bioassays. The proposed structure of the peptide hormone was thus confirmed by a chemical synthesis.
