Various means by which photostabilization of polymers can be achieved are described, and work on a method of photostabilization by surface screening on a substrate polymer is presented. The surface screen is obtained by graft copolymerization of a polymerizable hydroxybenzophenone ultraviolet absorber. The results show that the application of this method to polypropylene and poly(vinyl chloride) is an effective stabilization treatment.
