Are the tried‐and‐tested layered structures challenged as intercalators by organometallic systems? Because of packing, the polymeric title compound crystallizes with a layered structure, and not as the also feasible three‐dimensional network. The van der Waals interactions between the individual layers and the oxidation potential of the oxometalate(VI) units of each layer may “invite” potential guest molecules.
