Bright yellow (Y₁₋ₓGdₓ)3-z(Al1-yGay)₅O₁₂:Cez phosphors were synthesized. White LED was obtained by the combination of non-absorbed blue emission from a blue L ED itself and yellow emission from (Y₁₋ₓGdₓ)3-z(Al1-yGay)₅O₁₂:Cez phosphors. The crystal structures and optical properties of (Y₁₋ₓGdₓ)3-z(Al1-yGay)₅O₁₂:Cez phosphors were investigated.
