The temperature change Δ T of TGS single crystals induced by the adiabatic application of uniaxial pressures X 1 , X 2 and X 3 was measured in the temperature region 10°C to 70°C. The temperature dependence of Δ T agrees fairly well with those calculated by the thermodynamic theory. The temperature and pressure dependences of the anomalous part of Δ T which appeared below T c can be explained as an effect of the electroelastic coupling by the phenomenological theory.
