Risak8 reported a marked fibrinogenopenia in three patients with acute myelogenous leukemia who died of severe bleeding. He assumed an impaired production of fibrinogen as the cause of the fibrinogenopenia, but tests for fibrinolysis were not carried out in these cases. In the case reported below a reduction in plasma fibrinogen was discovered in the course of examination of the blood. Further studies revealed the presence of a fibrinolysin, which was believed to be the cause of the fibrinogenopenia. In recent years the appearance of a fibrinolysin and fibrinogenopenia...Bibliography1. LewisFerguson JHJH: Studies on a proteolytic enzyme system in the blood. IV.
