Validation study reveals excellent test-retest reliability for a sensor-based reaction test in padel players, indicating strong utility for sport-specific assessment.
This study aimed to evaluate the test-retest reliability and explore preliminary construct validity through a known-groups comparison approach of a new sport-specific test, the Oculo-Manual Agility and Reaction Test for Padel (OMART-P), designed to assess these abilities. Sixty federated padel players, classified by competitive level (high and intermediate), completed two versions of the test: a short version (10 stimuli) and a long version (25 stimuli), each repeated twice. The results indicated that the long version showed excellent reliability (ICC = 0.92, r = 0.92), whereas the short version demonstrated moderate reliability (ICC = 0.65, r = 0.66). This pattern was observed across both competitive-level groups. No significant differences were identified between high- and intermediate-level players in the known-groups comparison. These findings indicate that the OMART-P provides a reliable, sport-specific measure of oculo-manual agility and reaction time in padel players, with greater stability observed in the long version.
