this paper, we propose a unified notation, called UniPath, for clear and systematic representation of biological pathways on the cell system scale. We also design and implement a graphical editor to draw pathways map according to the proposed notation. The advantages of edited maps are that they are easy to update and suitable for computer processing, and that they represent pathways knowledge more intuitively. The graphical editor is designed so that biological pathway data can be easily transformed into XML format
