A brief discussion of corrosion processes from the electrochemical standpoint is given along with some of the electrochemical factors affecting corrosion. Organic and inorganic inhibitors are discussed separately and the mechanisms proposed for explaining their action as polarizers of the local corrosion cells are reviewed. Several experimental approaches to the study of corrosion inhibitors are given. In this connection a number of inhibitors are listed and their applications given.
