Cluster and molecular mechanics analyses of all the cobalt(III), copper(II), and nickel(II) six-membered-ring systems in the Cambridge Structural Database revealed that the conformations of the rings follow the distribution expected on the basis of their conformational energies. Chair conformations are the most common, while boats occur infrequently, especially in copper(II) complexes.
