The polymerization of styrene, catalyzed by aluminium trichloride, in different polar and non‐polar solvents, e.g. chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, benzene, toluene, and cyclohexane was studied at 30°C. The polymerization rate at fixed initial amounts of monomer and catalyst is correlated with the dielectric constants and individual natures of the solvents used.
