For unassociated liquids, the following relationship between the surface tension (γ) and the isothermal compressibility (χT) is found This relationship leads to an expression for the parachor (vp) and to the following equation for the variation of isothermal compressibility with temperature (T) where Tc is the critical temperature of the liquid, M its molecular weight, d1 its density and dg the density of the vapour in equilibrium with it; k is the Eötvös constant.
