In this paper, a new high-performance and power-efficient two-stage symmetrical class AB CMOS operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is presented. The structure uses a different approach to conventional buffer drivers based on an adaptive circuit technique. Utilizing this structure efficiently reduces small-signal distortion due to component mismatch. The implemented configuration results in significant improvements over the small-signal and large-signal performance of a basic class AB amplifier, as well as power and silicon area. The circuit consumes only 1[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]W from [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]V power supply voltage and exhibits a high output drive capability, which results in a slew rate (SR) improvement of more than 150 times when compared to a simple amplifier. The design is simulated in a 0.18[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m n-well CMOS process.
