A promising strategy is developed for synthesis of azide polymers by controlled/living free radical copolymerization of allyl azide in the presence of S-benzyl O-phenyl dithiocarbonate at 0 °C under 60Co γ-ray irradiation. Allyl azide can be markedly incorporated as a comonomer into the polymer chain in the process.
