A forced impregnation technique is proposed to overcome incomplete filling of colloidal templates. They were filled with methanol and then immersed into alkoxide precursor bath. The alkoxides can penetrate every interstice while the methanol is removed from the templates by vacuum. Hence large-area 3DOM structures with high porosity were prepared.
