Chemical characterization study identifies four novel atranones in Stachybotrys chartarum cultures, expanding the known structural diversity of fungal secondary metabolites.
Four new atranones were isolated from a culture of the filamentous fungus Stachybotrys chartarum. In addition, several ketal derivatives of the hemiketal atranones were prepared. The structures of these new compounds were elucidated based almost entirely on NMR spectroscopic evidence.
