Several new hexacoordinated ruthenium(III) complexes of the type [RuX2(LL) (EPh3)2] (where X = Cl or Br; E = P or As and LL = S-benzyldithiocarbazate or S-methyldithiocarbazate) have been synthesised. The Schiff bases deprotonate and behave as uninegative bidentate nitrogen sulphur (NS−) chelating ligands. All the new complexes have been characterised on the basis of their analytical, IR, EPR and electronic spectroscopic data.
