‘Kick-in the head’: high-performance and air-stable mononuclear Dy III single-molecule magnets with pseudo-D 6h symmetry from a [1 + 1] Schiff-base macrocycle approach

Using the [1 + 1] condensation approach for the preparation of new macrocyclic scaffolds with the phenanthroline-based ‘head’ unit afforded two Dy III monomers with pseudo-D 6h symmetry and large energy barriers for the magnetization reversal.
