Benzophenoxazines are among the most important classes of heterocyclic compounds, with strongly coupled π systems which enable efficient light absorption and emission. Due to its unique photophysical properties, such as high molar absorption coefficient, intense fluorescence, and good photochemical stability, the benzophenoxazine skeleton plays a key role in the design of fluorescent dyes for special applications. The article presents methods for synthesizing benzophenoxazine derivatives, their photophysical properties, and the significance of their applications, highlighting their potential as structural platforms for producing advanced fluorophores.
