The hypersonic velocity and absorption have been measured in aqueous CdCl2 solutions in the temperature range between 9.30 and 70.0°C by Brillouin light scattering techniques, as a function of the concentration. The experimental results indicate the existence of a structural relaxation in the Ghz region, which is discussed in terms of the collective structural properties involved to explain various physical quantities in the same system. A detailed analysis is also carried out for the ultrasonic velocity data, whose values increase by adding electrolyte to the solvent, revealing as a function of the temperature a peculiar behaviour which is discussed in terms of the current acoustic theories.
