Thin Nb3Sn films with highest Tc are produced by magnetron sputtering using two methods: 1. sputter deposition onto hot substrate, 2. sputtering onto cold substrate and following heattreatment. The latter method is studied with regard to its possible use for photolithographic lift-off technique for device fabrication. The films are investigated with regard to superconducting. structural, and surface properties with emphasis on their use for Josephson tunneling contacts. Good tunneling results can be obtained only from films deposited on hot substrates using a double barrier of MgO and MgF2.
