This study was conducted to determine the importance of semen collector effects and semen collector by rooster interactions as possible sources of variation for three semen quality characteristics. Eleven roosters were ejaculated once a day, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) over 3 consecutive weeks beginning when males were 46 weeks of age. Three semen collectors ejaculated all the males on a different day each week according to a Latin Square design. Significant differences in semen volume, sperm concentration, and total sperm per ejaculate were observed among roosters while semen collector had no effect on these characteristics. The absence of significant semen collector by rooster interactions for the three characteristics measured indicated that roosters ranked similarly across semen collectors.
