Compositionally modulated Ni/Ni–P films, with wavelengths between 2.1 and 4.0 nm and an average P content around 12 at. %, have been prepared by alternating electrodeposition in a simple and inexpensive apparatus consisting of two baths of different composition. X-ray diffraction showed a single (000) satellite at low angles due to the presence of the modulation.
