A west-east motion of an auroral-zone X-ray event was observed late in the magnetic storm of June 22–23, 1961. Time delays between X-ray bursts at balloon altitude and increases in ionospheric absorption of cosmic radio noise indicate that velocity components along the auroral zone of 200–300 m/sec are present in this type of an event.
