The fine structure of resonance cones in the lower hybrid range is investigated experimentally. For large antenna distances the shift of the main cone and the interference structure are found to be in agreement with the low-temperature approximation. On the contrary for short distances the measured interference pattern can only be described by the complete solution for the least damped root of the dispersion relation. The retrograde curvature of this branch is demonstrated. The determination of electron density and temperature from resonance cones can now be performed in an extended parameter range.
