The zero-temperature d.c. conductivity versus density and the metal-insulator transition in some heavily doped semiconductor systems

The conductivity versus density and the metal-insulator transition in heavily doped n-Si and compensated n-Ge are discussed. The quantitative aspects of two recent models for disordered systems are examined by explicit numerical calculations and the results are compared with experiment.
