Dissecting aneurysm of the aorta is a relatively rare disorder, its -true incidence being difficult to determine. Graham and Milne (1952), in a 25-year retrospective study of admissions to a Glasgow hospital, found it to occur once in every 9131 rdmissions. From a review ofthe published reports they found that the incidence at necropsy varied between 0 1 and 1 1 per cent.
