The homodiffusion coefficients D of platinum in Fe–Pt solid solutions in the concentration interval 15 to 60 at% Pt and in the temperature range 780 to 1420°C are determined by the residual activity method using the isotope Pt-193m. The measured residual activity values are evaluated by the spline-polynomial technique on a ZPA 600 computer. All the D-values satisfy the Arrhenius relation making possible the calculation of the migration characteristics D0 and δH. The results are discussed on the basis of the Fe–Pt equilibrium diagram. The increase of activation enthalpy δ(δH) due to the FePt ordered structure is 6.8 kcal/mol, i.e. about 11% of the value obtained by a linear interpolation and expected in a regular solid solution.
