This study examines the job advertisements of entry-level positions in Bangladeshi libraries; and the course curriculum of the LIS (Library and Information Science) Bachelor and Masters degrees to identify whether the university prepared their graduates to meet these demanded skills in the workplace. Over six years from 2018–2023, 116 job advertisements were collected and scanned. The required skills in the advertisements were compared with the LIS course curriculum and results showed the courses mostly meet job requirements. As alumni, the early-career LIS professionals were also interviewed to have real-life experience, they expressed their lack mostly in practical tasks and proposed some recommendations.
