Photoions of H 2 O + , OH + and H + from H 2 O and those of D 2 O + , OD + and D + from D 2 O have been observed in coincidence with threshold photoelectrons near the ionic B 2 B 2 states. It is confirmed that above the dissociation limits to OH + and OD + , the 2 B 2 states of H 2 O + and D 2 O + predissociate to OH + +H and H + +OH and to OD + +D and D + +OD, respectively.
