A double mass spectrometer system has been used to study the reactions O−+N2O→NO−+NO, O−+N2O→O2−+N2, and NO−+N2O→N2O−+NO over the range of reactant ion energies from 0.3 eV to about 35 eV. Using 18O−+N2O, both N16O− and N18O− are formed with approximately equal probability. However, little or no 16O appears in the N2O− product when NO− reacts with N218O. The dependence of the cross section for production of O2− from O−+N2O upon O− kinetic energy indicates that the reaction is endothermic.
