We have discovered a small ( 1()"), bright (20 f.u. at 10 ) source in the dusty, southwest part of M17. its color temperature is 200 i 15 K and its 10- surface brightness is at least 10-8 W cm-2 - sterad-1 these values are comparable to those found at the peaks of the two extended 10- sources previously discovered in M17.
