Type Ia diamonds, which exhibit additional x-ray diffraction spots and streaks due to the nitrogen platelets, have been subjected to high pressure, high temperature conditions. It was found that the intensity of these additional spots and streaks decreased appreciably after this treatment. The interpretation of this result is that the nitrogen platelets were partially destroyed.
