The integration-net size required for computing absorption spectra is determined by how accurately the relative positions of the lines are known and by the line half-widths. When the half-width is not too much greater than the uncertainty of the line position, a net size equal to the half-width will usually suffice for Lorentz and Doppler lines, but atmospheric lines may require net intervals of a quarter of the half-width.
