Methods 1. Serum lactic dehydrogenase was determined by the method of Wroblewski and LaDue (1955).All sera were separated one or two hours after the blood was collected, and, if not assayed immediately, were stored at 40 C. until the time of estimation. The storage period was usually less than 24 hours and never more than three days. The enzyme estimation was carried out at 25°C. in a Unicam SP 500 spectrophotometer fitted with a constant-temperature device, and the reaction rate was found to be linear throughout the five-minute period of observation.
