Experimental study demonstrates rhodium-catalyzed selective B–H amination of 1-pyridyl-o-carboranes with TsONHBoc, highlighting a practical route to primary carboranyl amines.
This work discloses a rhodium-catalyzed selective amination of the B–H bond of 1-pyridyl-o-carboranes with N-Boc-O-tosylhydroxylamine (TsONHBoc) via direct B–H activation. A series of primary carboranyl amine derivatives decorated with diverse active groups have been synthesized in moderate yields under mild conditions. This work offers a practical and facile approach for the synthesis of primary carboranyl amines and has important value for application in medicinal chemistry and functional materials.
