Owing to their chemical structure triazine herbicides can undergo N -nitrosation. In this work the formation of N -nitroso derivatives of atrazine, terbuthylazine, terbutryn, and terbumeton was evaluated. The kinetics of formation is discussed in relation to the structural features of the compounds and the ratio triazine/NO 2 - in amounts similar to those present in human gastric juice.
