The ordered Au4Mn alloy is studied by high resolution dark field electron microscopy. Fully ordered Au4Mn is isostructural with Ni4Mo and it presents features which make it particularly suitable for structure imaging especially if the crystal is in a [001] orientation and if the image is formed exclusively by superlattice reflections. By this technique detailed “atomic level” information can be obtained concerning the structure of the domain boundaries. At inclined twin boundaries evidence is given for the occurrence of a coincidence structure. At antiphase boundaries relaxation of the structure can be observed in the vicinity of the boundary region.
