Third, fourth and fifth virial coefficients are reported for isotropic systems of hard prolate spherocylinders with length to breadth ratios of up to 6:1. The results are compared with other recent data for such molecules and with the predictions of an analytical equation of state for convex hard molecules. The variation with shape of the fourth virial coefficient suggested the possibility of negative values for very elongated molecules, and this was confirmed for a length-to-breadth ratio of 11:1. Padé approximants for the equation of state were found to give results in excellent agreement with Monte Carlo simulation data.
