Fault Classification in Transmission Lines Using Wavelet Multiresolution Analysis

Fault classification is an important decision for fast digital relaying operation on transmission lines. Furthermore, the selection of a proper mother wavelet is necessary for extracting the dynamic features of current signals at the instant of fault occurrence on a doubly fed transmission line. In this article, a detailed examination was completed using 16 wavelets to prove the superior performance of the Db4 wavelet compared to other wavelets for the process of fault classification.
