A radioimmunoassay has been developed for the quantitative measurement of blas-tokinin in flushings or extracts of rabbit uteri. The RIA utilizes guinea pig anti-blastokinin serum and i s capable of detecting blastokinin in the range of 0.3 to 2.0 ng of the protein. It was found that the amount of blastokinin present in uterine flushings from pregnant rabbits increased substantially on Day 3 to 20,000 ng/ml. The level increased further t o 200,000 ng/ml on Day 4 and to a maximal level of 370,000 ng/ml on Day 6, which is a 2000-fold increase over the levels found on Day 0. The amount of blastokinin declined thereafter to about 5–10,000 ng/ml on Days 10 and 12. (Endocrinology95: 1534, 1974)
