A multitude of methods from surface physics in combination with molecular beam and laser spectroscopic techniques provides detailed insight into the various aspects of the dynamics of interactions between molecules and surfaces, reaching from macroscopic kinetics over phenomena of spatiotemporal self‐organisation to the microscopic elementary process. The present state of our knowledge is illustrated by means of selected examples, concerning mainly single crystal surfaces of metals.
