Reaction of Carbazolylpotassium with 9‐Bromoanthracene and Nitrobenzene The formation of 9‐(9‐anthryl)carbazole (5) and 9‐(2‐nitrophenyl)anthracene (6) from 9‐bromoanthracene (4), carbazole and nitrobenzene in the presence of potassium carbonate and catalytic amounts of copper is explained with the assumption of a trans‐metallation equilibrium between carbazolylpotassium and nitrobenzene.
