Brown et al. (3-5) observed that necrosis of the adrenal cortex was followed by a decrease in urinary excretion of 17-hydroxycorticosteroids. In these animals a picture compatible with adrenocortical insufficiency developed which was not modified by the simultaneous administration of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) but which could be prevented by cortisone.Other authors (6-8) confirmed these initial data and the technical grade DDD...References1.
