The low temperature specific heats of lanthanum and neodymium trihydrides, LaH2.69 and NdH2.70, are measured in the temperature range from 2 to 260 K. Two λ-type specific heat anomalies are found for both hydrides at 239 and 247 K, respectively. These anomalies are most probably due to metal-to-semiconductor transitions. Additional, a λ-type specific heat anomaly due to a magnetic transition is found for NdH2.70 at (3.4 ± 0.1) K. The electronic specific heat coefficient γ for LaH2.69 and the entropy change due to the magnetic contributions to the specific heat in NdH2.70 are evaluated and interpreted.
