Thermoduric psychrotrophs were found in 27.2% of milk samples collected from 1040 farms in the west of Scotland. Of the micro‐organisms isolated 85.8% were identified as belonging to the genus Bacillus and 9.9% were assigned to the coryneform group. Bacillus cereus occurred most frequently and B. licheniformis and B. coagulans also occurred in significant numbers.
