A theoretical expression is presented for the Raman scattering from interacting rotons and phonons in He 4 . It is shown that the energy shift and zero-temperature linewidth of the scattering resonance are determined by both the roton-roton and the roton-phonon interactions. A contribution to the asymmetry in the scattered-light lineshape arises from the interference between the scattering amplitudes of rotons and phonons. The theoretical expression is fitted to the Raman data of Murray et al. (see ibid., vol.8, p.L90 (1975)), and the interaction potentials are estimated.
