Summary. Electrical stimulations in, or in the vicinity of the septum pellucidum of unanaesthetized goats were observed to produce shivering, peripheral vasoconstriction, sometimes piloerection and in animals exposed to heat an inhibition of polypneic panting. Prolonged stimulation in room temperature caused a rise in rectal temperature of up to 0.5° C, at which stage shivering was no longer seen as result of stimulation. A lowering of the body temperature of the animals, or the exposure to cold (4° C) facilitated the shivering response.
